It has been made into animated clip with the soundtrack from the original interview. Jerry Levitan, now all grown up produced this animated clip with a few others. Watch and get an insight into what John lennon thought of the world in the early Seventies.

Play The Funky Music is probably one of the biggest hits of the Seventies. Naturally, it also became one of my favorite party songs. During that period, there was no such thing called a disco yet along my shores though the phenomena was already catching on like wild fire in more advanced countries. So it was weekly “parties” for us.

In reality, it wasn’t much of a party. Just the usual gang sitting jamming together with the cassette recorder blasting away. Yes it was cassette recorders. Do not know what was a CD back then. Never heard of one even. The most modern and advanced musical gadget was the cassette recorder.

The opening strum of the bass guitar from “Play the funky music” became like sort of an anthem to us then. It was hot and it was funky and every one went a little crazy when the funky music starts.
