Van Halen – Biography

Van Halen, formed in Pasadena, California in 1972 is a rock band from America. Though changes have been made to the line up of the band, existing members includes Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Wolfgang Van Halen.

In 1978, Van Halen released their debut album titled Van Halen which became an instant hit.

As of 2007, Van Halen has sold 86 million albums worldwide and has had the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Van Halen is the 19th best-selling band/artist of all time with sales of over 56 million albums in the United States alone.

They are one of five rock bands that have had two albums sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S. In 1996, the RIAA certified their debut album diamond for ten million in U.S. sales.

Van Halen remained active till the present day, having planned tour of Japan in August 2012. However, the plan was cut postponed.

Legendary United States (US) rock group Van Halen will reschedule a planned tour of Japan after founder guitarist Eddie Van Halen underwent emergency surgery, the band said on Thursday.
